Mar 27th to 29th - DHS

Mar 27th – Sun
We took Moe and Larry & Barb on a tour to Anza Borrego Springs and the state park of the same name. We drove down the by the Salton Sea and made a loop through the park and back to Hwy 111 in Palm Desert. We drove around a very nice RV park with a golf course as we thought we might like to stay there. The higher rates (minimum $30 per day if you stay 30+ days) and the distance from any large city made us change our minds.
We stopped at the park visitors’ center and decided not to go on any hikes. The climb out of the park provided some wonderful views and lots of yellow wild flowers. The ocotillo plants were also in full bloom.
We ended up at the Elephant Bar for a nice, late lunch and got home about 4. The wind was blowing here so of course Terry wanted to go to a casino. He also wanted to see if he could repeat his winning streak but that didn’t happen. Moe went with us and enjoyed spending his $25 free play and some of his own money.

Mar 28th – Mon
We woke to the lovely lack of sound which was no wind. Terry had arranged to get our 5th wheel washed & waxed at 11 so I took off and got a haircut. I think the stylist wanted my cut to last until we come back next year as it is very short! Then I picked up some groceries and got back just after the rig was done. When I opened the door to get the groceries, a large bottle of Roses’ lime juice fell out and smashed on the concrete parking pad – yuk.
Moe is leaving tomorrow so he brought over groceries from his fridge or that he could not fit into his stuffed little car and I had to find room to put it all away.
Larry was going to join us for golf at 2:15 but he & Barb had played this morning and he decided not to play again. While we were waiting to tee off, we watched a group of 3 men ahead of us who waited until the group ahead of them were off the green before they teed off. We thought they were “heavy hitters” but 2 of them totally flubbed their shots and one used an iron to tee off but only got to the 100 yard marker. I wanted to cancel our game rather than be frustrated following them but Terry said we should just wait which turned out to be great as we were paired with Marty & Mary. I played scramble once with Marty but Mary thought she was not a good enough golfer to play with the ladies’ club. When we finished the game, we went to Marty & Mary’s for a quick drink before going to Larry & Barb’s for dinner.
Moe joined us for a wonderful dinner made by Barb. She called the main dish “Fiesta Chicken” and I can get the recipe for anyone who wants it.
We came home to watch DWTS and I made my usual long weekly phone call to sister Marg.

Mar 29th – Tues
Barb, Mary, Marilyn and I formed a group to play with the ladies’ club this morning and we all marveled at the wonderful weather and how lucky we are to be enjoying this lifestyle. I did some dinner prep, made breakfast and had time to read for a while before going back to the golf course.
Friends Claude & Val are staying in Indio and joined us for golf & dinner. They got stuck in a huge traffic jam caused by an overturned hay truck and just made it for our tee time at 1. I did so much worse than my game this morning – go figure!
We sat out for drinks & snacks and then moved to the other side of the rig for a larger area in the shade to have dinner outside. It cooled down when the sun disappeared so we came inside for more chit chat before they left about 8.
