We
had coffee, packed stuff up and wandered over to Larry & Barb’s where crab
was already being cooked. I helped Larry
clean crab and they gave us 4 to take with us.
We hugged goodbye and pulled out about 10:30 for a 3 hour drive to Rochester
WA and the Lucky Eagle casino.
There
was a lot of traffic heading north on I5 and an accident at one point caused a
huge backup. Southbound was busy but
moved right along.
We
arrived at the casino and found different rules for RV parking. We backed into a site and went to the casino
where we discovered that we had to register at the hotel so we stayed to play
slots for a while. When we finally went
back to the hotel, we found that we were in a site with no services (there were
electric & water but they were locked) and we weren’t supposed to put out
slides! Oh well, it was free so we
decided to stay. I got a free buffet
lunch in my birthday month so we had a late lunch (3:00) at the casino and didn’t
need dinner. We put out the bedroom
slide and watched TV for a short time.
July 29th – Mon
Since
we didn’t have power, we went to the casino for coffee and ended up “staying
& playing” for a while on very little money. Points on our casino cards and a senior
special let us have a breakfast/lunch buffet for little $ before we hit the
road.
We
were heading south & west towards the coast and ended up at Spirit Mountain
casino just out of McMinnville. There is
no easy way to get there from here! You
end up on a road with stop lights & traffic nearly all the way from
Portland. There is a huge parking lot
for free overnight RV parking so we set up & went to the casino to
register. I came back before Terry,
shelled the crab for dinner and enjoyed a drink.
Terry
hooked up the generator, put up the satellite dish and watched TV for a short
while after dinner before he started falling asleep. Put away the generator & crash!
July 30th – Tues – to Florence
OR
This
morning was a repeat of yesterday – get up late, go in for coffee, play slots a
bit and have lunch which was very cheap with coupons & points on our cards. Our destination today was the RV parking at
the Elks club in Florence. We stayed
here previously and with water and 50 amp power is a deal for $15 per night. We backed into a spot, registered for 2
nights and headed to yet another casino!
We got back in time for a late dinner, TV & bed.
