Sept 18th to 21st - OK to Texas

Sept 18th – Sat – to Thackerville OK
We had a short drive today so dawdled a bit before hitting the road and checked into the Winstar Casino RV park before noon. We set up, made some lunch and went to the casino which is huge. We were here 2 years ago and did not remember how large it was. It is called the Winstar World Casino as it has facades with architecture from different countries. I tried to get pictures but it was too long to do justice to it in a single shot.
You would think that with as many slot machines as there were that we would find a few that treated us nicely! Terry didn’t do well but I hung in for a long time and even gave him some more money.
I made dinner and we were surprised to get over 30 TV channels on the antenna so we had something to watch.

Sept 19th – Sun – to Bowie TX
We had an even shorter drive this morning so I got up early, made zucchini bread and vacuumed before going to Terry’s cousin’s (Theresa & Tom) ranch just out of Bowie. Some of you may remember that shortly after we visited them last spring, their ranch was burned out in an explosive grass fire. They have been in their new house for a couple of months and it is lovely. They built a new barn and replaced fences while Tom worked full time and Theresa worked at her store and on the ranch. The grass has come back nicely and they did not lose all their trees so the cattle still have necessary shade for the heat in the summer months.
We spent the afternoon catching up and Theresa (aka Terri) made dinner. Tom currently has a 2 hour drive to work each day so we didn’t stay too late.

Sept 20th – Mon – Bowie
We had coffee with Theresa before she left for the store. After a load of laundry was completed, we drove into town, got a couple of items at WalMart and went to Theresa’s store – Heartland. Theresa was waiting for a large shipment of Christmas items so we stopped at a car wash and then returned to our rig where Terry watched TV and I worked on the computer. Theresa came back with the boxes of Christmas stuff which Terry helped unload into the garage to store for a while. Before Tom returned from work, I had loaded some jokes & pictures onto Theresa’s computer as her old computer was destroyed in the fire.
After another dinner made by Theresa, we watched TV & talked, talked, talked.

Sept 21st – Tues – to Amarillo TX
We had coffee again this morning with Theresa, took some pictures and headed west. Just a few miles down the road, there was a roadblock because of a bad car accident and we had to take a slight detour but we got good instructions from the flagger and Wanda picked it up after a few miles.
The landscape changed from hills to flat and back to hills. Lots of cotton fields and small towns. We are at the Oasis RV park just west of Amarillo which has a special rate of $20 per night if you sign up for their free VIP card and you get the third night free when you stay 2 nights so I guess we are here for 3 nights. A great perk is being able to wash your vehicles in the park and we certainly have a lot of bugs on the front of the 5th wheel.
Cable TV is also included and it was very warm so we watched TV and took a short walk before dinner. After dinner, I helped Terry wash the bugs off the 5th wheel and then came in to do dishes. Next thing I know, he is washing the whole rig! I wanted to watch Dancing With the Stars and figured we had 2 more days to clean the rig so he got to do it by himself!
