Feb 16th to 18th - DHS

Feb 16th – Wed
The forecast was for deteriorating weather but it remained nice for the men’s club rounds. After a late breakfast, we went for a walk and returned the golf cart that we had borrowed from Cliff. Cliff was off somewhere but we chatted for a while with Pauline.
We got the truck washed and picked up a few groceries. Larry & Barb came over for dinner and then we played Sequence. They have played the game with their granddaughter but never with partners.

Feb 17th – Thurs
I called for a tee time this morning and since we couldn’t get Larry & Barb on the phone we walked over to the gym to find Larry to see if they wanted to join us. By the time we got to the club house we decided it was too darn windy & cool to play golf so we cancelled the tee time instead. We also both picked up winnings for men’s & women’s clubs golf days. I stopped at Carolyn & Bill’s on the way back and invited them to come over for coffee. I had time to make breakfast for us before they arrived.
The wind died down as we were chatting so when they left, Terry headed to the pro shop to see if we could get on. Bill & Carolyn said they would play with us but by the time Terry got back, they had accepted an invitation from Gilbert & Grace. Larry & Barb had gone shopping so we went alone for our 12:30 tee time. Just after we got there, a twosome was on the tee so we joined them. They don’t stay in this park but we played golf with them last year.
We had an early dinner and then went to a dance here at the park. We were in time to join a line dancing class for a bit. Larry & Barb joined us and we met a new couple – Russ & Carol – who are from Sydney B.C.

Feb 18th – Fri
Terry had to leave just after 8 to work at the putting contest for the Can-Am (Canadian-American) golf tournament today. The wind started up a bit by our tee time at 10 but we removed layers after the 3rd hole. There were longest drive and KP holes which our group effectively ignored! It was not a good day of golf for Terry but I made a couple of miracle putts and did OK.
The last group did not tee off until 11:30 so we had time to accept Larry’s offer of a gin & tonic before lunch was served. The Canadians won the tournament again by a very close margin – 32.3 to 32.8. The score is calculated by adding up everyone’s net score and dividing by the number of players on each team. Lunch & awards finished about 3. Trish & Moe came to our place for a drink and then they invited us to join them and Lynn & Lynn’s friend Sonja for leftovers dinner. It was raining quite hard so Terry drove them home before we quickly made some bruschetta and drove over. Everyone was pretty tired so we were home just after 8.
