May 13th to 15th - 100 Mile House

May 13th – Sun – 100 Mile
Terry was antsy this morning so at about 10 we went to Williams Lake and stopped first at the casino. I steadily lost my allowance and was down to about $5 when I started winning on a machine that I hadn’t played previously. I was able to cash out $165 and immediately stashed $100 in my “do not take out” pocket. I hadn’t seen Terry for a while – and this is a small casino – so I thought he must be doing OK. He soon wandered up with no money left so after I won a small bonus I gave him $10 which didn’t last long. I was still up so I cashed in $50 and we left will money ahead for a change.
We went to WalMart for groceries and grabbed a hamburger for a late lunch. We were back in plenty of time to work on a puzzle, do chores & make dinner.

May 14th – Mon
After breakfast & chores we made a quick trip to town to check the mail. We are waiting for a new credit card and the bank keeps calling to see why we haven’t activated it yet. We know from past experience that mail forwarded to Canada takes a long time to arrive and it hasn’t got here yet.
We took the brush cutter off the tractor so it would be more maneuverable to clean up some old, big fallen tree trunks – Terry’s idea! The trees are rotten so Terry could get large pieces with the forks on the tractor but there was a huge mess left behind. I first picked up sticks and threw the longest ones over the fence to be picked up later and then helped Terry clean up the mess from the rotten trees. An area used previously to burn debris is close to where we are working so it didn’t take long to dump each load. We cut down a few small trees that were in the way and cut up limbs that were too long to handle but that was the only chain saw work.
It was quite hot today and we were exhausted by 4 so we quit and took refreshing showers before happy hour, chores and baby back ribs for dinner. Of course I had to watch DWTS.

May 15th – Tues
We cleaned up more broken up, rotten old logs this morning. We have both decided that we have aged more than a year since we were here last year as we certainly can’t work as long and as hard! The excess weight that we are both carrying sure doesn’t help!
We quit in time to make another quick trip to town to check the mail – no luck. Then the cook took a break and we stopped to pick up hamburgers to take back for lunch. We were being lazy after eating – Dad sitting in the sun and Terry & I working on a puzzle – when Marg got home from her little vacation. We helped her unload all her purchases and then went for an ATV ride to check the pastures & fences. By the time we made a few gate changes to accommodate the sheep in a new pasture, it was time for happy hour & to get dinner in the oven. We ended the day watching DWTS.
