May 6th to 8th - 100 Mile House

May 6th – Sun – 100 Mile House
We went back to the field where we worked yesterday and first started another fire to let it burn down to weiner roasting coals for lunch. Terry pushed over several dead trees with the bucket on the tractor so we had more limbs & wood to clean up. I went back to the house to get food & Dad and we burned a few wieners for lunch. We worked after lunch to finish our goal for the day.
We all went to friends Francis & Nicole’s to clean out their asparagus bed. They are in France so Marg is looking after their cat Smarty, picking up their mail and doing small chores. We then stopped to see Al & Cecile. Cecile was in Kamloops for the day but we had a nice visit with Al.
We got to relax and count our sore muscles for the rest of the afternoon & evening.

May 7th – Mon
After breakfast & chores, Marg & I maneuvered her motor home out of the barn as it needs an oil change before she uses it this year. Terry put our empty propane tank in the truck and we followed Marg to town. We went to the visitor information center while Marg got air in her tires, we both got propane and then we dropped the motor home at the home of the mechanic. We made a detour on the way back to town to check on Marg’s boat which is also getting some work done on it and found that it needs more repairs than anticipated.
We went to Safeway, the liquor store and then to Home Hardware. Luckily Marg reads our blog so she knew we were looking for an electric mattress pad and had found one at Home Hardware of all places. We were happy to get it and Marg thoughtfully bought each of us a pair of work gloves! We had a late lunch at A&W, picked up some grain at the feed store and headed home to unload everything.
When I was putting groceries away, I noticed Buck (pony) & Snow (donkey) grazing by the house so I thought Marg let them out. Turns out Buck did one of his sneaky escapes and broke them out so we let them enjoy the grass. Terry worked on a puzzle and studied the Alaska Milepost book while Marg & I repaired the gate used by Buck, fixed a Y fitting for water hoses, tilled the garden and transplanted some seedlings.
The lambs are free to graze around the house but Terry noticed a couple of ewes in the yard. Buck had decided that he had enough freedom so he opened the gate to a corral and he & Snow traded places with the 2 ewes that haven’t lambed yet. Luckily they love grain so it wasn’t hard for Marg to get them back in. After dinner we watched DWTS and I introduced Marg & Dad to 321 cake for dessert. Marg put the sheep out to pasture for the first time this afternoon so I had to walk through the corrals with the flashlight to close the gate before we crawled into our nice warm bed.

May 8th – Tues
Marg was making phone calls this morning so we ended up with a late breakfast & chores. Then Marg changed clothes, packed a suitcase and left for a little vacation to visit friends & relatives.
The sheep have been leaving quite a bit of tough hay in the feeders so we clean it out before putting in new hay. (Yes, Marg’s sheep are spoiled!) There was a wagon full and a couple of piles so we got Dad to pull the wagon with an ATV and we moved all the hay to a pile in a nearby field.
After lunch and Dad’s nap, I cut his hair and we all went to town to pick up Dad’s new hearing aid. Somehow he lost his previous one. All went well and we will all be much happier with Dad able to hear us and him not having to put up with an old squealing hearing aid.
There wasn’t enough time left to do much of anything before happy hour, chores & dinner.
