Apr 29th to May 3rd - Spokane, Cataldo ID

Apr 29th – Thurs – Spokane
It rained again last night and was drizzly & cool this morning. We made a trip to the Laundromat, picked up some ink for the printer and topped up the diesel. Terry helped Bill pull his 5th wheel out of the shop & put on his bicycle rack while I caught up my blog and did some internet research.
I put some chicken enchiladas together for our now routine shared dinner, vacuumed the rig and went to B&G’s. After dinner, we all watched an episode of Planet Earth and a magic show.
Planet Earth is a collection of 6 CD’s all about earth. It took several years to make and the photography is amazing.

Apr 30th – Fri – to Cataldo
Terry went to empty our gray tanks into Bill’s field this morning and the handle on the kitchen tank came apart again. It is the one that he had to fix in Yuma. He crawled under on the wet grass and started to take things apart but the water started leaking out so he decided to wait until the weather gets better to work on it.
We and B&G left about 10 for a weekend get-together at Kahndarosa RV near Cataldo, ID. There were going to be 10 couples but only 7 ended up following through on the plans. We were the first to arrive and were all set up when Gary & Margie and their dog Toby arrived. It was still raining on & off so we stayed under our awning and lit the buddy burner.
The weather cleared later so we could build a nice fire with some of the loads of fire wood in our truck & Bill’s truck. We should be able to have a fire most of the weekend.
We were joined by Willy & Geri, Rich & Prisca & their daughter, Woody & Debbie and Dave & Ginnie.

May 1st – Sat – Cataldo
Terry and some of our group kept out of the rain under our awning this morning and they decided we would all go to Wallace which is an old mining town not too far away. Our 4 vehicle caravan sloshed up the highway and we all went first to a railway museum housed in a RR station dating from 1901. Then we walked a couple of blocks to a restaurant and all had good lunches. The rain had let up so we wandered around town checking out several antique/junk stores and then headed back. B&G were with us and we stopped for an item that Georgia needed at a new WalMart in Smelterville, looped through Pinehurst to check out any changes and came back to the RV park.
There was lots of blue sky when we got back so we immediately got a fire going. Everyone hung out around the fire for the rest of the afternoon & evening with couples leaving at different times to make dinner & then return to the fire. Woody, Dave & Ginnie actually braved the cool weather and went for a bike ride.

May 2nd – Sun – Cataldo/Spokane
Dave was up early this morning building a fire – sunny but cool & breezy. I was lazy and stayed inside for a while reading and keeping warm. Some hardy souls went bike riding and the rest of us started packing up as the wind was getting worse and several people needed to get back fairly early. We ended up waiting at the dump station and got back to our private park shortly after noon.
Bill & Georgia’s daughter Sherry, her husband Jim, daughters Jenelle & Natalie and friend Annie were here and all but Jim had just finished running/walking in Bloomsday which is a huge annual road race in Spokane. After they left, Terry & Bill started work on the holding tank problem. It had rained on the weekend so the ground was soaking wet, the wind was cold, water was leaking from the gray tank as they took things apart – it was a totally miserable job that included 2 trips to hardware stores. They were shaking with cold when they had it nearly completed about 6 so decided to finish tomorrow. Terry & Bill each nearly ran their hot water tanks to cold as they tried to warm up in the showers.
Georgia had made a big pot of soup and cornbread for our dinner which was really appreciated. We stayed to watch an episode of Amazing Race with them and then immediately crawled into our nice warm bed.

May 3rd – Mon – Spokane
It rained last night but cleared and Georgia had clothes on the line before we got going this morning. I took over a basket of laundry and we got Terry & Bill’s yucky clothes into the washer. Rain threatened again so Terry & I went to run some errands. Before we could load a propane tank in the truck, it started to pour and we actually waited in B&G’s house before dashing to the truck. Georgia had to take her wet clothes from the line into the dryer.
We were only a couple of miles down the road when it started to clear again. When we got back, I had 2 loads of clothes on the line when Georgia returned from a grocery shopping trip. Spent the rest of the afternoon making cookies, folding clothes and being lazy.
We are going to Canada tomorrow and B&G are traveling with us in their 5th wheel. I probably won’t post to the blog until Sat or Sun after we reach 100 Mile House.
