May 13th to 15th - 100 Mile House

May 13th – Thurs – 100 Mile House
Marg went with friend Jane to check pastures on Crown land (Jane’s job) so we were on our own today. Marg had an old sink that she wanted in her greenhouse and Terry had started the process a couple days ago so he & I finished installing it this morning. It will be connected to cold water and will drain outside on the grass but those functions are not done yet. We spent time trying to figure out how to raise Marg’s new couch & loveseat a few inches to make them easier for us old folks to get out of.
After lunch, I was lazy and Terry is STILL not feeling up to par so we spent a lot of the afternoon working on a diabolical jigsaw puzzle.

May 14th – Fri – 100 Mile House
Marg, Terry & I went to the Farmer’s Market this morning where Marg bought a few plants for her garden and we met her friend Quille who sells her art work. We dropped off cans, bottles & paper at the recycling center and made the mandatory grocery stop.
After lunch, Marg, Terry & I built a temporary electric fence to keep the sheep in a smaller pasture for the first grazing of the season. It is very dry here and the grass in not growing really well so Marg has to manage it carefully. We also fixed a couple sections of permanent fencing and added them to the electrified part. Marg feed the sheep an early, smaller “dinner” of hay and then let them out in the pasture so they would not have the time & appetite to eat enough grass to bloat.
Marg & I planted some seeds in her garden before dinner. Friday is a bad TV night so we watched our Terry Fator (ventriloquist) DVD which amazed Marg & Dad.

May 15th – Sat – 100 Mile House
We drove to Quille’s house this morning to pick up her boat trailer. She is an artist in various mediums – clay, beads, feathers to name a few – and we got to tour her house which is a wonderful mix of her art and work areas. Back here with the trailer, we loaded Marg’s aluminum fishing boat and then mostly Terry got to adjust all the rollers & bunks to fit the boat. Then we returned to Quille’s to put her motor on the boat. Good thing she doesn’t live too far away!!
We got back just in time to BBQ some wieners and eat lunch outside in the lovely sunshine.
Marg & I left the guys napping and went to town where we looked at some recliners and ran a few other errands. We picked up her motor home from the guy who did the oil change and returned home where Marg did some computer chores and I puttered in the garden & greenhouse. We also put a metal support bar and cleats on the compost box so we can slide boards into the front as it fills up.
I put a roast in the crock pot earlier so we just had to make potatoes & carrots for a great dinner. Again, Marg & I left the guys relaxing and drove to Snag Lake where Marg was considering joining some friends for the long weekend. We took the long way there & the short way back which ended up being 110 km (nearly 70 miles) and took us 2 ½ hours.
