May 4th to 9th - Keremeos, Logan Lake,100 Mile House

May 4th – Tues – to Keremeos B.C.
The rain let up to let us pack up and get on the road just after 9 this morning. We stopped in Omak for lunch and used the Nighthawk border crossing where they took all our fruit & vegetables except for citrus & bananas.
We found the Eagle RV park in Keremeos, got a couple of spots and set up before going to see Aunt Jessie and Ed. Jessie made a nice dinner for us after which we took a walk around the co-op RV park where they live. Then we had to watch DWTS result show before heading “home”.
Terry is developing a cold & cough, hope it doesn’t get too bad.

May 5th – Wed – to Logan Lake B.C.
Cousin Pat had sent an email a couple days ago saying maybe we should delay our trip a day as they had a few inches of new snow. I talked to her this morning and she said it was snowing again and we would probably hit snow north of Princeton but it just rained a bit. We introduced Bill & Georgia to Tim Horton’s in Merritt for lunch and then checked out Canadian Tire for another first for B&G.
We got a couple of great camping spots on the lake in the Logan Lake Municipal Campground. The electricity & water is not on until Friday so we get to dry camp for free until then.
Pat made dinner for all of us and then we headed back to our cold rigs. We started the generators to warm up our beds with electric mattress pads and ran the furnace for a while to warm things up and prevent freezing pipes at night.
Pat dosed Terry with cold medication as he is not feeling very well.

May 6th – Thurs – Logan Lake
Georgia & I started today with a walk around the lake. It is paved on one side and changes to a path through woods on the other side for a very nice walk. I put dinner in the crockpot and took it to Pat’s to cook while we went exploring and geo-caching. We left Terry to mostly sleep and cough.
After dinner, we watched Survivor and our Terry Fador DVD before braving the cold. B&G had a new neighbor and Bill did not want to run his generator at 9:30 so they crawled into a very cold bed.

May 7th – Fri – Logan Lake
We all went golfing today – even Georgia for her 3rd golf game ever. Pat, Georgia and I followed Terry, Rick & Bill so we would not slow them down. It was sunny and sometimes breezy so we put on & took off jackets through the 9 holes. Georgia hit enough good shots to keep her coming back – including a better score than me on the par 3 9th hole!
After golf, we checked out two houses that Pat & Rick are renovating and I found all the pictures “lost” from Picasa for Rick’s Mom Marie.
Pat set up an “appy hour” get together this evening – friends, drinks & food. Attending were Claude & Val, Lynden & Charlie, Don & Joanne and Marie. A great time was had by all.
The electricity was turned on at the campground today so we had nice warm beds tonight.

May 8th – Sat – to 100 Mile House B.C.
It was snowing lightly this morning when we got up so I was anxious to get on the road. By the time we were ready to go and Pat & Rick dropped by for a last goodbye hug, the snow had stopped. We stopped for fuel in Cache Creek, browsed the gift shop at Hat Creek Ranch, dumped our waste tanks in 100 Mile, stopped to greet sister Marg where she was helping drive fence posts and were figuring out where to park in Marg’s yard about 1.
Marg, Terry & I had a late lunch and then Marg, Bill, Georgia & I went to town where we toured a Home Show, picked up animal feed and shopped for groceries. We left Terry with strict orders to sleep and get well.
Marg is getting her sheep sheared tomorrow so we had to get the barn set up. We thought it might rain during the night and wet sheep are not fun to shear so we put them all into the barn and a shed. The lambs have little “doors” so they can get out and graze in the yard. With the ewes locked in the barns, there was a lot of noise as the lambs tried to find where their doors were.
A couple of lambs are being bottle fed 3 times a day. They are so cute and we are all happy to take over that chore since there is no midnight feeding.

May 9th – Sun – 100 Mile House
Some lambs did not find their mothers last night so we listened to moms & lambs baaaaaing all night – or at least before 10:30 pm and after 4 am when I was not sleeping!
After breakfast we continued getting everything set up for shearing. The large group of sheep in the barn decided to knock down the barrier in the doorway so we had to get them all in again which they were not too happy about since they spent the whole night in there.
The shearer arrived about 9:30 and set up his equipment. We had friends Francis & Nicole to help us and neighbor Jeannie arrived a bit later. Bill & Georgia didn’t miss much action by attending church. We asked Bill if he wanted to “get in the sack” and since he didn’t know what that was he agreed. He had to climb into a large burlap sack that was suspended on a frame and pack each fleece as it was tossed into the sack. He did a fine job!
We were finished with the barn cleaned and temporary partitions removed by shortly after noon. Dad had a nice fire going for a wiener roast around the back yard fire pit.
In the afternoon, we all went to repair a fence that a moose had messed up in the winter. After that was finished, Marg, Bill & Georgia continued walking around the perimeter of the farm while Terry & I and Dad followed in the ATVs. The weather was lovely.
We watched a hockey game (Vancouver Canucks won) and the last episode of Amazing Race interspersed with dinner and dessert.
